The recent post that all science is but a game according to a prominent philosopher whose name I cannot spell (W...), prompts me to suggest a look at this day's post in the Cornell archives.

Besides physics, it discusses quantum game theory in biology [perhaps of interst to Mike], and quantum game theory in economics, the social sciences, as well as information theory, complexity theory and decision theory.

Here is the Abstract:

The next stage: quantum game theory
Authors: E.W.Piotrowski, J. Sladkowski
Comments: Preliminary version of an invited contribution to "Progress in Mathematical Physics Research", Nova Science Publishers 2003; LaTeX, 23 pp

Recent development in quantum computation and quantum information theory allows to extend the scope of game theory for the quantum world. The paper presents the history, basic ideas and recent development in quantum game theory. On grounds of the discussed material, we reason about possible future development of quantum game theory and its impact on information processing and the emerging information society.
