I think all of Christendom has to learn that pre-judging any human being and condemning them to hell just isn't Christian. No one knows the intent or power of God. I have argued this point thousands of times with some Christians - to no avail. In my mind, it's as if some people are just tickled that some people are going to hell.

I personally don't shrug the thought that Hitler or terrorists who take lives of them going to hell, but I seriously think that judging is God's business.

It's too bad that you were raised in this kind of Christian background. Had you been raised in a liberal Christian background, you probably would be Christian to this day. I personally think that Christianity is a fantastic and liberating religion if put in the proper context. The invent your religion as you go approach has many benefits, but it assumes that God doesn't inspire major religion for the masses, and therefore I think just leads to an uninspired understanding of God. We bring God down to our level (perhaps more of a vunerable and ill-equipped god) rather than the true God revealing who he is to us.
