Hi Rob,

I have one item to add to your list which has beem among the most important in my life. It might be seen as a variant of your #2, or it might deserve its own number:

12. Escaping the burden of guilt, and the terror of the probable consequences, laid on us by the Christian tenet of original sin and the likely prospect of eternal torment in Hell.

Once I got over that, when I was 20 years old, or so, my life has been immeasurably more joyful.
