was derived from GR. There are very difficult problems associated with this metric and a functional warp drive. Some of the problems have been theoretically worked out by David Waite [a person who has always been very helpful to me with GR and mathematics]. The idea of the warp is to surround a spacehip, in an inertial frame [no forces acting upon it], by a negative matter field which can locally control the rate at which space expands [there is no requirement for space to expand less than the speed of light]. The main problem is the negative matter field is a violation of the weak energy condition in GR and the initial warp metric needed an infinite amount of negative matter to work . David got this down [theoretically] but its still the main problem. Anyway read David's reply to DickT
