In spiritual matters, there might not be proof
in current science. The conversation should be gentle (a word Alan emphasized ).

If a person "knows better" than the
conventional interpretations of a religious book,
or even knows better than its content,
or knows better than the heretic, surely it can
be a friendly matter, and remain friendly.
A conversation partner in earnest would be
a treasure. Anyone who cares enough to argue should care enough to be permanently nice and conversational about it.
