When I said cold, I meant it in more literary terms: the absence of emotion or indeed, anything other than analysis.
I did not see that specific show on the Discovery Channel. But I've seen shows that perfectly fit your discription of what you thought it would be.
In the end, there are (in my expert opinion *maybe*) too many portrayals of science as the whole, when in reality, it is only one ingredient.
