and I think I figured out why you think energy has to be conserved. You think stable orbits exist for all r? In the Schwarzschild geometry stable orbit only exist for r = 6M and greater. Possible knife edge orbits [orbits that require energy imput for dr/dTau = 0] end at > r = 3M [the photon sphere]. No possible orbits exist for r < 3M. |
