I was wondering why things or systems cannot become more complex on thier own? You say that useful information must be directed into the systems, it sounds like a bias of thinking intelligence such as we have are the creation or creator, as if if we did not exist systems would all deteriorate because we would not be here to direct useful information, or is that gods business? How did we get so complex? If something is directing, it must be complex? How did the comlex directing mechanisms get thier own comlexity? an example: We are evolving, we direct our own useful information, also, if an alien race stumbled upon our planet and helped us wit technology, would this increase of complexity in our system be by chance, even if it was thier goal to spread knowledge and we were found by chance? Maybe I am missing your point, although this argument can extend to biological and inanimate systems, not just coded information.
