From timelessness to time is the change you ask about. Time began with each fleeting glimpse of mass manifesting and falling back into the void. In the beginning refers to the beginning to time.

Sidney Coleman of Harvard was reported by David Freeman of Discover Magazine as teaching, "Virtual quarks and electrons have much the same effect as their real counterparts: they cause space to contract. But virtual photons, or any other force-transmitting particles, have the opposite effect; they cause space to expand."

Gluons are the carriers of strong force between quarks, moving and dissipating quickly the strong force.

The no size perspective of quarks is limited since we find quarks inside neutrons and protons. But, yes, they are on the limits of spacetime and therefore will confuse our efforts to limit them.
