The key is that we need leaders in Washington who better reflect the attitude and desires of America. Right now those in Washington have played the 9/11 card very well, but eventually people will see this kind of thinking for what it is and will hopefully establish more sensible policies. The point is that we may be at a point in the history of human history where fallen Empires could spell nuclear war, and regional conflicts might spell nuclear war, and expansionist policies may spell nuclear war. There's not a whole lot of options available in those scenarios.

Where the U.S. has a longterm advantage is our multiethnic population. There's a large segment of Europeans in our population, there's a large segment of Chinese, Indian, Hispanic, etc. As these groups continue to rise to prominence in the U.S., I'm hoping we will see a more international perspective with good ole' American values. That's good for us, and good for the world.
