God seemed to have actively participated in human endeavors in the Old Testament.

Man and God would carry on conversations, argue about the best course of action (of course God's way always prevailed), exchange ideas and express feelings, and even wrestle (when Jacob had his name changed to Isreal).

Now he's gone... (???)

We have to search for his dialogue in coincidences and messages from church. Why does he no longer particiapte as actively as he once did? Maybe he never existed, but as long as we are lead to believe he does, we have comfort, security, and peace (and a last ditch means to control those rebelious "I've got nothing to lose" criminal type people who don't fear the law or jail; perhaps they'll at least give second thought to the afterlife).
