"Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed." Jesus' statement illustrates a mystery about consciousness: science cannot actually reproduce thinking itself. Belief, like assumptions, comes before the scientific process.
Thomas Jefferson clipped all Jesus words and story, without miracles, and pasted them into a book he used extensively. I guess he did not require miracles because what he valued in many of Jesus' words wastestable without miracles, via experience and via logical rigor grounded in neuroscience, history, and other
