Hi Duanne,

I think we stand to learn a lot by trying to build a conscious machine, so I think we should give it our best shot. But I am pretty sure that we won't succeed unless and until we have a much better understanding of what consciousness really is. I think our understanding, and even our best guesses at the moment, are woefully inadequate.
