Hi Tim
To refrain from stealing, lying and cheating
is really to
be willing to do honorable transactions
in a formal system with the other party.
This does not occur unless a formal system
has been posed. The natural world does not
contain formal systems by definition,
and much of the human world's formal systems
are unfinished or tattered by weathering.

Thanks for objecting. Observations
like yours are useful and lead to
clarification. I meant something like
"intent"

(this from a dictionary)
"a somewhat formal term now largely in legal usage, connotes more deliberation"

While there are folks whose real purpose is to
cause damage, most folks, due to the nervous system's pain/pleasure polarity, are actually
trying to create good outcomes and with enough
deliberation, the best outcomes are more within
reach. Unfortunately, "enough deliberation" has
been recognized as the enemy of tyrants.

So, cheating, lying and stealing -- which create
short term gain -- gradually erode the builders'
chances for making the world a better place,
to coin a cliche'
...are you able to see what I am getting at
and still disagree, or are you just opaque to this?
Mike
