I did not intend to suggest the universe is ambiguous. I believe there is no ambiguity or lack of clarity in the existential universe. I believe lack of clarity is an artifact of language coupled with sensory and perceptual limitations.
Assume existence at an elementary particle level with absolute clarity though not directly available to our senses.
Assume complex entities are colonial in nature but support some form of individual identity.
Assume sensation acts as a conduit providing a relatively stable mass of data that suggests the nature of the universe, subject to sensory limitations, illusions, hallucinations, interruptions, corruption, error, and other distortions.
Assume perception acts as an interpreter of pseudorandom samples of the data generated by sensation, including the inadequacies, providing an approximation of the universe.
Retention and recall limitations create further instability, gaps, and inaccuracies in the individual’s approximation of the universe. Each individual thus has a unique approximation, which is subject to variation within the individual over time. This shifting approximation is our sole contact with the existent universe. Language is a tool developed to simplify discourse with and about the universe by arbitrarily grouping similar individuals. Each group is assigned a word and a set of attributes which define the group (word). Attribute sets are limited so group membership is necessarily unclear.
