Life:
"physico-chemical phenomenon characterized by
1)enzymatic catalysis [to achieve efficient metabolic success]
2)self-replication through information storing molecules (i.e., nucleic acids in case of carbon-based life here on earth)"
Well, that's what the dictionary says. And that's what I am trying to explore in its different dimensions at the medical school.
Existence:
it's basically a subject of pure philosophy. Well, we can't answer satisfactarily where do universal constants come from? Can we? And so, we can't really explain objectively anything about existence at the most fundamental level (the level of energy and matter)except perceiving things from a human 'perspective'.
God:
a wonderful,exciting and important concept.
WONDERFUL because the history of this concept is inextricably connected to the history of civilization itself.
EXCITING because it gives you an insight into the progression of human knowledge and its development and its limitations
IMPORTANT because through its understanding and the comprehension of concepts intimately related to it and the psychological forces involved in its evolution we can determine the direction of our progress as a species
Science:
Well, the most objective way of collecting information available to us [the humans]. The understanding of its philosophy is also the understanding of the limitations of the human mind. It is also the way through which we can understand the depth of human insight and the breadth of our mental reach. The fruits of science (information capable of being translated into technology) provide us with this opportunity.
That's it.
What?
Was I superficial?
Well, correct me. I am listening.
