Richard,

I think we mainly stick to 'the here and now' vs. the afterlife. We really refer to death as "the eternal life (or more the state of being rather than a 'life')" with the undertone of 'the unknown'. We do reflect heavily on 'the acts of goodness' that were performed here on earth (reflective in a prayer called the 'Kaddish') and the memories left behind in the love ones.
