This is a "loka Alert" (Loka Institute's Loka Alert 7:2 "The Politics of Genetically Engineered Humans") from a conservative Democratic point of view. It tells of the politics (focusing on the ethical problems) of GE and some of the very basic ideas. I'm more of a Republican centrist, but I have liberal views of GE. The only thing I have a problem with is the availability of GE. I think that, until there is a way for everyone to get the same opportunities, GE should not become available. The poor should not be left behind because they are poor, and the rich should not get any more chances than anyone else. Other than that, I like the idea. As for Genetically Engineered foods, animals etc. I am undecided.

Phillip Martin
