I'll Explain How Saddam Should Proceed

It seems to me that he is a practical and an intelligent fellow. So to me the obvious thing for him to do is to throw in the towel and declare himself a humanatarian. Then disarm, and then feed and clothe his people. In short, become the opposite of what he has been acting like.

He has enough income from oil to do all that while socking away a bundle for the future.

He would survive and after a couple years of full cooperation and humanatarianism the inspectors would give up and he would be welcomed into the world culture. He could even institute democracy and would obviously win any election given all his aid to his people.

Then after two or three years he could take the bundle he socked away and turn it into nuclear weapons and missiles without anyone being the wiser. It just might be that he will enjoy his role as a humanatarian - Nobel Peace Prize, etc.- and he will not be willing to give it up. But more likely he would become the next world nuclear power after North Korea, and the USA could do nothing about it, just like they can do nothing about North Korea.

So that is what a smart Saddam would do. But from his recent interviews, it appears that he is dumb enough to try to become a martyr (is that how it's spelled?). That gives Bush the opportunity to attack and take over the oil fields.

As I have indicated in a reply to one of Murat's posts, that appears to be what God wants. And so God is urging Saddam to be a martyr- probably promising him a splendid place in heaven- same for Osama as previously explained.

It is Bush's job to take advantage of Saddam's stupidity, and take over the oil fields, as the administration thinks we will begin running out of oil in 2020. Murat is right about the administration's thinking on that one.

Compare this to VietNam. That was a waste of a war with nothing to gain and a ferocious enemy that we could not beat.

Iraq is an relatively easy foe. Their regular army will surely capitulate just like they did before. The elite guard may not and we may end up fighting door to door. But at least we have all those oil reserves to gain. There was nothing to gain in Viet Nam.

So Bush should take advantage of Saddam's stupidity, just like we did with Hitler's stupidity in WWII. If Hitler were smarter, we would all be in the Third Reich now, including Saddam. Fortunately God provides dumbness when ever necessary.
