But first: I was born into a Christian society, but my parents were not practicing Christians, and never spoke of religion. I do not follow any particular religion. But I did run into an alcohol problem and joined AA, which is a spiritual program. It welcomes anyone, since the spirituality has only to do with one's contact with his own Higher Power, of his own understanding. I was a card carrying member of the American Atheist Society when I joined. But I found I had to give the God idea a try. So I "turned my will and life over to It" as best I could.

And I did my best to follow the guidance I
believed I was receiving.

At one point in the process, many months after starting it, I received a dream in which my bar mitzva was being celebrated. I take that to have meant my spiritual coming of age.

On the other hand, I may be an android wishing for humanity. And one day my off-button will get flicked to the down position.
