According to present understanding in cosmology, to one part in 10^5. All the matter in existence today comes from that extra 10^-5. The rest became light. We can observe that light right now on the COBE satellite in the microwave region. As time goes on the spherical shell that emits recombinition light is traveling away from us at nearly the speed of light. It is right now about 15 billion light years away from us but surrounding us like a big encompassing spherical balloon. We cannot we anything older than that as light was not free to propagate before then. |
