Freedom Is Essential

Richard,

In my view, freedom (mostly unrestricted movement) and a heterogeneous culture are key ingredients for not only economic growth, but also for full maturity of a culture. With freedom and heterogeneity come many problems, but it is the resolution of these problems that yield great dividends.

I suspect that there are mathematical reasons why freedom and heterogeneity yield these results, much of which has been studied in evolutionary theory as part of the ongoing research in genetic algorithms and other evolutionary algorithmic processes.
