Scientists do not know what reality is.

A further comment on your logic. To quote you:

***Einstein's famous equation E=MC2 explains energy and excludes time and space. He could not include things that do not exist. ***

This expression is based on General Relativity which includes both time and space and its relationship to mass. What GR excludes is gravity.

Your fundamental reasoning process is in error. I think it's a case of knowing just enough to be dangerous, to yourself in this case.

However, I agree with this statement of yours:

***In that regard the only assumption is that reality exists because we are told it exists. ***

That there is a fundamental reality like a set pf particles or fields that exist is an assumption. If you wish to define reality as that which exists, then you obtain your equation by definition. However, scientists do not take this approach. They define reality as the first principles or assumptions on which theories are developed. The best example is Feymann's QED thery, the most accurate theory in existence. Yet it requires positrons coming back from the future to interact with electrons going forward in time in its derivation. So in this case, anti-matter is real. In your definition, the theory itself is real as it exists.

The QED example, also illustrates that we do not know what 'fundamental reality' is.
