You do realize that there were 12 disiples and that chrisanity was not slowly spread to the romans empire? It went north South and West. Also paul was killed so the idea that he made it acceptable is just wrong. Roman empire became christain many years after his death. Also the very idea that Jesus would be unknown is also wrong, most churches weren't even in the main roman empire mostly on the fringes.
