The Essence Of The Taliban Is In Your Reasoning

Whenever someone relies solely upon their fundamentalist beliefs and will not approach matters rationally, they are following the same thought process of the Taliban. The difference is only one of ideology. Islamic law permits harsh treatment of those who disobey the law, whereas the basis of Christianity is against such harsh treatments. Christians have been harsh (often quite harsh), but I think they are not following the life of Jesus who was clearly asking the authorities to forgive offenders of the law and not issue the death penalty to those offenders.

Nevertheless, if Christianity as a whole were a religion which instituted such harsh punishments, then it is quite possible that you would be one of those among us who would be seeking to enforce these social codes.

I might add that Jesus did grow up in a Taliban society, but he was willing to stick his neck out and resist that way of life and even saught to re-state the purpose of the Torah which gives you a little insight into how Jesus resisted fundamentalism. He is the example for Christianity.

Warm regards, Harv
