Richard Lewontin said this. Perhaps you have heard of him. One of the most prominent evolutionist. He is basically saying that no matter what the evidence states, he must believe in evolution. I this that this complete acceptance of a theory, in his mind, has now turned into a religion.

Such faith is put in evolution. So many hold it to be fact. But it cannot be repeated in a lab, nor has it been seen directly. Therefore the belief in evolution requires faith. Great faith.

I've got to go now, but I'd love to debate this point further.
