I think a discussion on the history of the concept of the soul is appropriate for this forum as it impacts on so much religious thinking.

It seems that there are not biblical references to the soul. Hopefully some of you who are well versed in Christian scripture can correct this impression if incorrect.

The whole idea of a soul created at conception is contrary to Christian thinking before the 17th century from my brief research on that subject.
The change seems to have come from the Pope.
