Then is must have started today, because the last several hundred years have been nothing but blood-shed. Do you think that the millions of people who died in World War II, or the 600,000 men who died in the civil war would agree with you? This is not peace.

This is the definition of peace from dictionary.com. Not by any stretch of your imagination could you make this definition fit the last few centuries.
