I don't have a suitable reply yet.
When asked if I am a Christian, I can say
"Yes" whole-heartedly, but when I realize
the person asking might not intend the term
to have the same meaning that I do, the whole
thing returns to the original problem --
they try to turn everything into formulae.
I show up and they give me a script and
say,"read this aloud. Sing this. Listen to this."
It's as if I am LESS of a soul than when I walked in. I am a tube through which to run a theological product, to paraphrase Alan Watts.
Now, you say that you are a Muslim, if I understand. But if you are asked, the person
asking might not intend the term to have the same meaning that you do.
Maybe there should be a new name for such persons.
Perhaps Free, as in, "I believe in being Free."
Any more observations?
