Some new spiecies have come about throughout the last 5,000 years, through natural adaption. They are very close to the original, but have changed some because of the new enviroment. (Do not confuse this with MACROevolution. This is MICROevolution) An example of this difference is dogs. Pomeranians and dachunds are quite different. But they both came from a original kind. The amount of varation is limited, so dogs can not evolve over time into a completely diferent spiecies, like a deer. The point is that there were probably more original kinds on the ark, thus fewer spiecies. But even is this did not have much effect, there was plenty of room. Read that link.
