He stretcheth out the north over empty space,
And hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; And the cloud is not rent under them. Job 26:7-8

The "“north” signifies the northern circumpolar constellations and the writer recognized that they stretch out beyond the utmost confines of the earth; so that he was not under any impression that the heavens rested upon the earth, or were borne up by mountains. The celestial sphere surrounded the earth entirely, but at a distance from it; between the two there was “empty space.”" International Standard Bible Encyclopedia

Also it is clear that the Bible describes the Earth as hanging on nothing. Thus nothing was "holding" the earth up, or it was a sphere. Also it is clear that the Bible describes the clouds binding up water or being formed from condensed water. I'm not sure when this was thought up by other cultures, but the Bible clearly agrees with science.
