One of the things I discovered with my "reality as a language" idea is that your question above is essentially meaningless. Anything you try to understand can only be understood in dualistic terms; any attempt to understand what "experience" is will necessarily lead you to think of the subject of experience as being separated from the object of experience. But that is is, as far as I can see, a linguistic illusion rather than a statement about reality.

Words do not create reality. Just because we can think up an idea it doesn't mean the idea corresponds to a real entity. The essence of reality can only be known if you do away with any attempt to explain it. Here's one way to do it:

Turn off your mind, relax
and float down stream
It is not dying

Lay down all thought
Surrender to the void
It is shining

That you may see
The meaning of within
It is being

That love is all
And love is everyone
It is knowing

That ignorance and hate
May mourn the dead
It is believing

But listen to the
color of your dreams
It is not living

Or play the game
existence to the end
Of the beginning

Reality is a shining void that is neither void nor shining. And yet, even those are just words...
