I checked the dictionary to answer your question.
Avatar is a mystery word like God...and refers to "passing down beyond" into our realm from so very far above...and being in the world with us IN A BODY.
How it translates may vary. It comes from the Sanskrit language but I did not intend its meaning to be limited to one culture.
