Why do I do this to myself?

I think if the pressure is applied then Iraq (Saddam) might (/probably will) back down. Think of it this way, would he rather be facing a tribunal for war crimes (or dead), or simply forgoe certain weapons for another time? I think that if the threat is real, he will do whatever he can to avert war and stay in power. Saddam is an opportunist. He doesn't want war - especially against the West, but if he does by his eagerness for WMD, then the world has to decide how much our cities being intact mean to us.
