Phillip,

Your question assumes a logical order in the universe since causality is implied (i.e., what caused God). However, the real question is where did this presumable logical order of the universe come from? Or, why is there cause and effect in the universe?

All logic and math as far as we know assume axioms being 'true'. But, what makes the axioms 'true'? It would seem that a theory of truth exists which 'simply does'. For me, 'God' is that set of inexplicable truths which logic (or Logos) arises from. Where did that come from? It didn't come from anywhere, it simply 'is'. By that all of the material universe originated and it controls the evolution and laws of the universe.
