Okay, this is a typical management situation.
Upper management floats a ridiculous, unworkable plan. Workers are heard whimpering sincerely.
Middle management devises a go-between compromise.
Workers work like heck to get it done.

Then upper management takes all the credit and
a giant paycheck.
