You're looking at the wrong end of the spectrum, Aaron. The overwhelming majority of IQ tests used by U.S. public school systems focus on modern-day Forrest Gumps, not modern day Stephen Hawkings. For the parents of children with low-to-normal IQs (~ 75 to 85 range), the periodic IQ test can be a frustrating experience. These tests serve to justify allowing these children to remain in the public school system's "mainstream." The issue is money, as these children occasionally require more staff assistance. I thought this point was clear in my last post.
