"...And then a miracle occurs..." is still
the most important step in science.
The public, led by such folks as Rush Limbaugh, Gordon Liddy, Michael Savage, and Michael Medved, is ignoring warnings from scientists that
we have some catching up to do on our
stewardship of the biosphere.
Too much of the public has been told
repeatedly that environmentalists are wackos.
The public apparently assumes that scientists
will continue to find miraculous ways of saving
the public's butt, "since nothing really catastrophic has ever happened before" when
we coasted with our eyes closed to the dangers
in our world.

So I think it is only right that we summon
all the Genies I have known:
1) Shaquille O'Neal, the basketball player,
played a Genie in a recent motion picture
2) I seem to remember a Genie in the motion picture "The Thief of Baghdad"
3) There's also the wife of the astronaut who then became the ruthless J.R. in Dallas. She's probably the one who will be easiest to do business with.
4) There are a few Genies in 1,001 Arabian Nights.
Gee, they're all in movies or on TV! Maybe
we are talking about the make-believe environmental public policy such as we had when
Actor Ronald Reagan was President. I love that guy in Bedtime for Bonzo.
