Apologies for not being a PhD and not taking their word for it...Although their work surely has applications, as
nearly as I can tell, the article does not clearly explain the decisive difference (for the question of whether light speed is variable) between their experiment and other instances of light being absorbed or harnessed, such as in photosynthesis
or heating. It appears they say that as light's energy is absorbed, the photons stop travelling.
But they don't explain they actually track the photon pathways to see if there is reflection.
They say light stops when they turn off the pulse.
Yeah. it would.
They say the photons' "group velocity" slows.
But this does not say they actually tracked any individual photons to see what path they took.
It may be in the experiment, but I don't understand it in the report. I believe the Emperor is wearing clothes, but I don't know what they're made from.
