No offense, but the only feeling close to amazement I experience here is when I see folks marveling at Stafford’s mathematical “proof” of solipsism.

In an earlier link, Bruce directed this forum’s attention to a website about modern crackpots (sorry, but I’m pressed for time; if you look around you may find it, or if someone else reading this knows, please provide it :) ). The author at the Bruce-provided website describes the problem with these crackpots’ approach, one of which I highlighted in http://www.astronomy.net/forums/god/messages/20717.shtml .

Specifically, Stafford’s “proof” begs the question; it separates thought and senses from reality itself. With these premises in place, of course he “logically” arrives at a “proof” for his rendition of solipsism (a philosophical position understood by a bunch more folks than Stafford, Einstein, Hilbert, and you).

If you accept his premise that (1) thought, (2) senses, and (3) physical reality occupy distinct and discrete regions of reality, and you know how to follow his math (assuming it is correct), then I suppose you will find his work acceptable. But if you’re inclined to be “amazed at what he has discovered,” then frankly I don’t think you’re quite capable of correctly estimating what I do and don’t see.
