Hi Dick,
I would not challenge your life story...there are some similarities with my experience too...which I could tell some other time if there were interest...it's all of four paragraphs too...
but I'm highly short of time and here's to the nuts and bolts point:

1. Skepticism: great for a kid to actively engage this way!
2. Memorization: it is a variable, not a yes/no
3. The brain and mind can be stressed by other factors
4. Knowledge of math is important; knowledge of
human affairs is important too. Most humans do advanced math on simple tasks, but have not learned formal math languages.
