I still maintain that Dick confuses ontology ("what is reality?") with epistemology ("what am I justified in saying that we know?"). As Yanniru mentioned, physicists are much more interested in epistemology and only speculate (and often even argue in private) about ontology. This is why Dick's thesis advisor wouldn't look at Dick's paper, his advisor was interested in the epistemology of science and Dick was interested in the ontology of science. If you look at Dick's statement about clocks measuring time only within one's own frame (not real time), then you see his bent toward ontology (i.e., what is time, really?).
