Hi Bruce,

Thank you for responding. You are right about me knowing less relativity than Dick. In spite of being curious about our universe and interested in physics, I am too old and pre-occupied to learn much more about them formally. I would rather take the easy way by having someone explain the deep concepts in simple language.

For example, I would like to hear simple definitions of length and time that make sense to me. Since these are supposedly two of the fundamental quantities in physics, you would think there would be simple definitions for them.

In Dick's post, he made what sounded to me like sensible statements that relate length and time. I am interested in your opinion of those statements. Are any of them wrong? And if so, which ones, and why?

I am not at all interested in anyone's opinion of how stupid Einstein, or Dick, or you, or me are.
