of the world, really should have had no effect in Asia, South America, and North America. Civilizations would have been too far apart to be able to share the event, even if it is a source of inspiration to the flood stories in the middle east.

But it remains rather clear that the flood is merely a story of so many civilizations because most civilizations grew near rivers, and all rivers flood.
