The Dirac Delta Function Is Not A Pulse

In fact, their is not physical equivalent to it. It is a mathematical thing only, and it is not even mathematically rigorous as it contains an infinity. It is an approximation.

Furthermore, there is no way to 'see' a delta function as it does not exost except as a mental construct. The only way to make it apply to physics is to integrate over it to obtain the value 'one'. It cannot change with different perspectives. It is zero or infinity from any angle. When you integrate over it, its value is 'one' no matter what direction you integrate.

There are 2-D and higher dimensionality delta functions. Then you have to integrate over every dimension toget the value 'one'. So all perspective is lost in that case.

Reagrds,

Richard
