I'm reading a 53-year-old book
on Presbyterian church history and
noting that Christians then were very
clear they prefer the state and church
be separate.

Problem is, with electronic adulation,
gross, vulgar materialism and talk radio
take the place of prayer, meditation,
deep historical thoughtfulness, reverence
for ancestors' travails and interest in
making good friends of the world.
We now have some simple dogmas, many of them
much crazier than Resurrection stories, about
how the world should be sliced and diced and
that the average citizens' opinions are really
not needed.

The church in America was fairly self-controlled.
Talk radio is almost the opposed of that.
Who wants to listen to the psychoses of a few intelligent folks each of whom has a strange
skew in their education?
