"So many folks work so hard just to keep a household together and sustain their loved ones.
At least that should be mentioned to."
Of course, Mike. I'm not universally panning humanity. I'm saying that it's sad that many of us psychologically need to believe that the universe was created with us in mind, regardless of evidence.
"Do you think animals are less "self-important?"
Yes, I do. But only by virtue of lack of their relative intelligence. We're just smart enough to delude ourselves.
"A definite sign of delusional self-importance is the determination to discuss such big questions with ham-headed illiteracy and using the tools of quack psychiatric diagnosis to brand anyone who knows more than you"
I don't think I'm a ham-headed illiterate. :) I'm not using 'quack psyciatric diagnosis' on you seriously either. It's either exaggeration or joking or frustration on my part.
"that is how it was mostly used in the very polluted, very unhappy, anti-Christian Soviet Union."
True, but I could make an equally powerful case against religious governments. Get one thing straight: I'm not trying to eliminate religion. Most people need it. In this case I'm not proposing a solution. I'm pointing out how sad and desperate our situation is if we think we have to choose between godless despair and self-delusion.
"What is faith? Before you reject it, you haven't precisely defined it scientifically"
Very well. I define faith as an opinion held (especially about theological issues) in the admitted absence of evidence.
"why do you persist in hating me instead? You think I am trying to be important?"
I don't hate you, I just get pissed when you act silly. But if you notice, the minute you started writing responses instead of insults, so did I. :) |
