Yes, I realize this is an issue with my forum software. It has been fixed in the newer forums on this site, but this one (and the blackhole forums too) remains unfixed. Here is why.

The simple way to keep the database unique is to create a hash on a few fields that will remain the same if someone accidentally posts it twice. I do this on all the forums. The actual prevention happens when I set this field in the database to unique. This prevents any more posts with the same content and author from posting.

This is all great, but the G&S forum existed many months before I created this. Today I cannot set the field to be unique because of all the previous double posts. At some point I will sit down and go through the whole 17,000+ messages, find the doubles, delete the least used one and turn on the unique functions for the hash field.

However, time is a problem at the moment. Sorry about that. I will get it fixed as soon as I can.
