The difference here is the psychic didn't design the universe and directly cause all events to take place. If God did design us, and knows our future, then that is tantamount to being a puppet master. If you write an AI program to perform a certain task, you may not be pulling the strings the whole time it's in operation, but your design caused every single one of its actions. And if you write a program that you know in advance will cause Windows to experience a fatal error, and then throw the program into computer hell, then you are a sadist.
