No thats not what Stafford was talking about. He specifically said this

"Essentially, Einstein made time one of his coordinates even after it
was explicitly clear that clocks did not measure time."

Do you believe that clocks do not measure time?

It is a fact
that clocks do measure what physicists call "proper time"
(Einstein's time-like invariant interval). This they measure very
accurately, even when following complex accelerating paths. The
Greek letter tau is commonly used for this variable. Tau certainly
does not map into the concept *time* as two different paths between
successive interactions can have totally different lengths in tau yet,
if the interactions occur, the time differences must be the exactly
the same (by definition)!"

Apparently Stafford does believe clocks measure 'proper time'. What I showed Harv was that all time notation, in relativity, define wristwatch time intervals in a specific coordinate system. In my example dTau was the rocket frame and dt was the Earth frame. The rest of what Stafford wrote is comical to the extreme. Especially the stuff about different Tau lengths and stuff not being able to interact because there Tau lengths are not equivalent. This kind of stuff always comes up with antirelativity cranks who insist time is absolute.

If I remember right Bilge was refuting Staffords claim

" First of all, the critical issue is that Clocks do not measure time. Time is actually defined from the anthropomorphic perspective that "two things which exist at the same *time* can interact"! What science has discovered is that it is impossible to construct any mechanical device which will yield that information from a general
perspective. That's a fact and not a conjecture."

Further 'crockery'.

As for Yanniru comments. g(shell) in the Schwarzchild geometry is

g(shell) = (M/r^2)(1-2M/r)^-1/2

This grows without bound as you approach r = 2M (the event horizon). Most the Universe is causally disconnected from us by an event horizon because space can be expanding faster than the speed of light relative to us. There is a metric which can be used to speculate region just as there is a metric for speculating about the physics inside a black hole.
